Megan & Will::6.14.08

Take one look at the date of this wedding and you can see how behind I am with posts! I'm terrible at blogging, but I promise to get better...

Megan and Will were married during a stunning Catholic Mass at St. Mary Cathedral in downtown Lansing. Each bridesmaid wore alternating shades of sage green and baby blue, which made for gorgeous photos. What a fabulous idea if you can't pick just one color?!? After their ceremony, everyone headed to the Lansing Center for the big party, which they continued long after this photographer had worn out her camera. So much fun!

They even included their bridesmaid's dog- now how cute is that?!

My Favorite Things

Those who know me well, know that there are certain things that I am extremely partial to... dark chocolate, flip flops in the Summertime, great coffee and a yummy pastry (okay, breakfast of any kind, any time of day), Marshall's for shoes and bags, and all things sandy, salty and sunny. And, in between editing and churnng out bridal albums, I love to find fun wedding websites. So, I thought I should start sharing from my long list of interesting finds- they don't do me any good- I've been married for 5 years! But if I could start over, I would put some of these cool sites to good use.

One of the best parts about going to a wedding (besides all the love and joyfulness floating around... oh, and the cake!) is arriving to your place at the table to see an adorable little surprise awaiting you. Favors are, in my opinion, a wedding detail that truly provides a creative accent and conversation starter at the reception. It's a great way to show the bride and groom's unique personality and gets guests talking. On one of my favorite little favor sites, http://www.kateaspen.com/, there is an oh-so-chic vintage getaway car favor box, in pale pink and black, with a little convertible top to sneakily hide what's inside. Who thinks of these things??!!! Now, I'm not advocating you break the bank to purchase miniature cars for your guests to drive around the centerpieces at their tables like 3 year olds (although that would make for great photos!)- the site does have some fun ideas to get you started. And that's one of the great things about planning a wedding- all of the fun little ideas that get you going in the right direction. :)

Stay tuned for more of my favorite things!

Mindy and Eric: I Do

There are so many reasons why I love my job. I could go on all day about them... but instead I'll try to show you. Mindy is my little cousin. I can't get out of the habit of saying that, never mind that she's now a "Mrs." I babysat for her when she was still in a crib, for goodness sake. I've also known Eric since he was little- their family used to attend my hometown church. So, you might be able to tell where this is going.
I've known I was shooting the wedding for a long time, so I was ready with my tough exterior on the big day. All of my family is from Ohio and so it was a big reunion in Bowling Green that weekend. Lots of loved ones who haven't seen each other in a long time and that always pours on the emotion. But like I said, I was ready.
Okay, maybe I lied. I thought I was ready until Mindy walked down the aisle with her dad. A father's relationship with a daughter is always so unique and it's so much more bittersweet on a wedding day. Sometimes they are able to tuck their emotions away and sometimes not. I secretly love when all that emotion comes tumbling out for all to see. It's such a powerful example of such a strong bond. And usually, the rest of the day follows suit. Among other favorites, there's a few examples of what I hold my breath to see each weekend...

Doesn't it seem like he's looking for help from above...?

I think everyone was crying by this time...

...But Eric and his mom lightened up the mood. :)

Thanks guys, for letting me see your sweet day through my lens. I wish you both a wonderful forever!!

Lindsey and Scott are married!

They held a beautiful wedding ceremony at the MSU Alumni Chapel and were married by their good friend, which resulted in sweet nuptials with lots of humor. After touring campus for some fun photos, the bridal party headed to Harrison Roadhouse to unwind on the patio. The night ended with a rockin' reception at Eagle Eye. Here's a peek into their day...
